Mineola ISD is celebrating continued student accomplishments and achievements. We held our first Student Awards Ceremony at the Mineola Civic Center in February to recognize students for awards earned during the first semester. Over 190 students were awarded certificates for UIL competitions in academics and extra-curricular activities. This includes our State Football Championship Team along with our Middle School Symphonic Band for their State Honor Band Title as first in Class C competition. We have several State competitions coming up as well with Robotics teams, FFA Chapter competitions, Cross X Debate teams, and Choir and Solo / Ensemble groups advancing to State! Many thanks to the guidance and support from our outstanding staff and sponsors of all of these events for their tireless work in preparing our students for success!
In keeping with the Strategic Plan developed over a year ago with 80+ members of the community and staff, a Facilities Committee was formed and recommendation were presented to the School Board in December for a long term facilities plan to address the age and condition of our campuses. Our High School and Elementary School will be celebrating 50 years this upcoming year and our Primary / Middle School Campuses are 30 years old. The Board called for a May Bond Election as part of Phase I of the long range plan. Bond information is available on our website and we have scheduled Community Forum and Tour dates to allow the public to visit our school, learn about the bond, and get answers to your questions.
The Forum and Tours will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Lobby, 900 W. Patten St. on:
Additional bond information will be sent home with students on March 1st as well.
