STOP THE BLEED

EMERGENCY TRAUMA CARE

Mineola Independent School District (MISD) prioritizes the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. In alignment with Board Policy CKD Legal and Section 38.030 of the Texas Education Code, MISD has implemented a comprehensive Traumatic Injury Response Protocol designed to prepare our community for effectively responding to traumatic injuries involving significant blood loss. Bleeding Control Stations, clearly marked and strategically placed by the School Safety and Security Committee at every campus and district facility, contain essential medical supplies such as military-grade tourniquets, chest seals, compression bandages, emergency blankets, gloves, scissors, markers, and detailed instructional documents. MISD ensures mandatory, evidence-based training for designated personnel including school peace officers, security personnel, and select school staff, as well as annual instruction for students in grades 7 and above, which incorporates both online and hands-on skills training. Employees and volunteers who utilize these stations in good faith are legally protected from civil liability, underscoring MISD’s commitment to creating a prepared, responsive, and safe educational environment.
