Friday, September 3rd, 2021 Re: Weekly COVID-19 Update Good evening everyone! From Monday, August 30th through Friday, September 3rd, the following cases of COVID-19 were documented at Mineola ISD: Mineola High School - 16 Active Student Cases, 1 Active Staff Cases Mineola Middle School- 22 Active Student Cases, 3 Active Staff Cases Mineola Elementary School- 7 Active Student Cases, 3 Active Staff Cases Mineola Primary School- 4 Active Student Cases, 1 Active Staff Cases *Our total student enrollment as of Friday, September 3rd, 2021 is 1628 students. Our positivity rate is 0.03 for the virus. *We highly encourage parents to sign the permission forms so that we can test your child if they are experiencing symptoms for COVID-19 or have had a close contact encounter with someone who is positive. We have conducted almost 400 tests in the District since the 2021-2022 school year began. The Abbott Laboratory Binax tests are 98% accurate and completely free to your child. *Data shows that in our local hospitals, a very high percentage of those currently hospitalized or in ICU are unvaccinated. *Please continue to wash your hands, social distance, and wear a mask. Face coverings will remain optional at Mineola ISD for students and staff pending Governor Abbott's Executive Orders. Parents and guardians, these are challenging times where often times we don't know whether to make heads or tails of an issue, but THANK YOU for trusting us with your kids day in and day out. A COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic will be open in the Middle School Cafeteria from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. for students aged 12 and up that have parent permission and any member of the community who desires one. Please share the word!

Our positivity rate is .0172 for the virus. *We highly encourage parents to sign the permission forms so that we can test your child if they are experiencing symptoms for COVID-19 or have had a close contact encounter. We have conducted over 1,000 tests in the District since the pandemic began. The Abbott Laboratory Binax tests are 98% accurate and completely free to your child. These allow you to seek the healthcare treatment that you or your family may need. *The next COVID-19 vaccine clinic hosted at Mineola ISD will occur on Monday, August 30th starting at 2:00 p.m. at Mineola Middle School. These are available for anyone in the community who desires one.
