Re: Weekly COVID-19 Update
Good afternoon everyone! Campuses will re-open for parents to enjoy lunch with their student on each Friday of the week starting Friday, October 15th. Thank all of you AGAIN for being so understanding during a challenging time.
Through Friday, October 1st, the following active cases of COVID-19 were documented at Mineola ISD:
*Please remember, the number of Active Cases will change daily as students that become positive go out and other students who have recovered during the mandatory 10 day quarantine period are allowed to return to school.
Mineola High School - 0 Active Student Cases, 0 Active Staff Case
Mineola Middle School- 0 Active Student Cases, 0 Active Staff Cases
Mineola Elementary School- 2 Active Student Cases, 1 Active Staff Cases
Mineola Primary School- 0 Active Student Cases, 0 Active Staff Cases
*Our total student enrollment as of Friday, October 1st, 2021 is 1633 students. Our positivity rate is 0.001 for the virus.
*We highly encourage parents to sign the permission forms so that we can test your child if they are experiencing symptoms for COVID-19 or have had a close contact encounter with someone who is positive. We have conducted over 500 tests in the District since the 2021-2022 school year began. The Abbott Laboratory Binax tests are 98% accurate and completely FREE to your child. Please call to schedule an appointment for testing if your child needs it!
*Data shows that in our local hospitals, a very high percentage of those currently hospitalized or in ICU are unvaccinated.
*The next Vaccine Clinic will be hosted in the Mineola Primary/Middle School Cafeteria on Wednesday, October 20th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for those interested in receiving a Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine.
A very effective treatment in fighting COVID-19 have been infusion clinics that have been established throughout East Texas. Here is contact information for one such clinic if you or one of your family members are in need.

This is an infusion center for anyone over 12 years old and over 88 lbs. who has been diagnosed with COVID. You must have qualifying factors. Some, but not all, factors are as follows:
Equal to or over the age of 65
Body Mass Index over 25
Diabetes
High blood pressure
Pregnant
*Please continue to wash your hands, social distance, and wear a mask. Face coverings are encouraged, but not mandated at Mineola ISD for students that are aged appropriate (3rd Grade-12th) .
Parents and guardians, these are challenging times where often times we don't know whether to make heads or tails of an issue, but THANK YOU for trusting us with your kids day in and day out. The Mineola High School Fishing Team had a great start to their tournament season at Lake Palestine today.
Alexis Villida and Leo Sekour finished in 6th Place out of 120 Teams. Alexis also caught the biggest fish of the entire tournament today!
James Clower and Hunter Wernecke placed in the Top 30.
Parker Harris, Ashton Crowley, Parker Grant, and Jackey Geer placed in the Top 50%. And Buddy Ruffin and Jace Tyndall placed in the Top 60%.
Congratulations to each of these students.
