A big shout out to our friends at City National Bank for sponsoring our District Luncheon today.
Tuesday, August 11th, 2020
Dear Parent/Guardian,
In keeping with Mineola ISD's practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying our school community that a staff member of Mineola Middle School was recently lab-confirmed positive for COVID-19. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual that may identify him or her. We are thankful that our employee is self quarantined and experiencing minor symptoms at this time. We were notified of the lab-confirmed positive test on Tuesday, August 11th and the last staff and student contact was on Saturday, August 8th, 2020. At that time, the employee was experiencing no symptoms.
We will continue to work closely with our local health department on this matter and all departments within our District. After a careful review, this case is completely separate from our High School case last week. Three other employees are currently in the quarantine phase, as well as our athletes in the High School Volleyball Program. To our knowledge, none of these individuals have experienced any symptoms related to COVID-19, but the health and safety of our students and staff remain our top priority.
All High School Volleyball practices and games have been cancelled through Tuesday, August 18th. At that time, practice will resume.
All of our campuses at Mineola ISD continue to be cleaned daily and operations at our Middle School and High School Campuses will continue as usual. As always, we will keep you apprised of any further updates.
Our best,
Cody Mize
Superintendent of Schools
A special thanks to our friends of the Mineola Kiwanis Club!
The Kiwanis were able to give all the classroom teachers from PK through 5th grade a $50 gift card to buy supplies for their students this year instead of having a school supply distribution because of the crowds. That’s $2400 in gift cards between the two campuses.
Donations came from Monica Cook State Farm, First United Methodist Church, Walmart, Mineola Community Bank, City National Bank, Kevin White of Trophy Creek Property Co and Roy and Beth Shockey.

Good evening everyone,
There are no easy solutions in accommodating everyone for our upcoming fall athletic events, especially Friday Night Football. However, we have worked closely with Athletic Directors, Band Directors, and neighboring Superintendents to come up with the best possible plan we could. I am sure it is by far from perfect. If you have questions or have better ideas on how we can address any of these topics, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Our best,
Cody Mize
Superintendent of Schools
